Many animal species are found nowhere else on Earth, such as the platypus, kangaroo, echidna and koala. Australia has also many of the deadliest species of animals on the planet. It has the most poisonous spiders and venomous snakes. There are several types of rain forests in Australia and more than one-third of Australia is a desert. On the eastern and southeastern edge of Australia is a stretch of mountains which is called the Great Dividing Range.
